Lashed Bone Fish Hook and Koru Pendant with Paua Highlight

A traditional lashed hand carved maori hei matau / Fish hook bone pendant featuring a koru design and paua shell highlight. The pendant comes on a black plaited waxed adjustable cord with a bone toggle at one end. The cord has been lashed on to the pendant. The pendant also comes with a meaning card.

This pendant is a one off and will not be available again.

Size: The piece measures 55mm (2 1/8 inches) long by 33mm (1 1/4 inch) wide and 5mm (1/4 inches) deep.

Fish Hook / Hei Matau

There have been many forms to depict the hook of Maui. Maori legend tells of how Maui fished up the North Island of New Zealand using his magical hook. Today the matau (hook) is worn for good luck, bringing the wearer peace, prosperity and good health. The matau is also said to provide a safe journey across water.

The Koru

This pendant also features a Koru design, the koru has been inspired by the unfurling fern frond, however in a spiritual sense the Maori use the Koru to represent peace, tranquility, personal growth, positive change and awakening.
