KoruThe koru is the Maori name given to the new unfurling fern frond and symbolises new life, growth, strength.
The koru depicts new beginnings, growth and harmony, strength and peace. The Koru is taken from the symbolism of a new unfurling fern frond. It is an integral symbol on Maori carving and tattoos and is an iconic symbol of New Zealand.
No matter what stage we are at in life, we continue to grow, whether that be physically, mentally or spiritually.
When someone gives a pendant to someone else, it is the custom that the giver wears it for a time so that part of their spirit is given as well.
