Arahura Kokopu Greenstone Pendant

This pendant is a one off unique piece and will not be available again.

This greenstone pendant is carved from rare Arahura Kokopu pounamu. Arahura is the place where the greenstone was found, the Arahura river is located on the west coast of the south island of New Zealand. The greenstone earns the name 'Kokopu' due to it's appearance. This greenstone is also known as 'Speckled Trout'. The darker spots on the stone are similar to the patterns found on the 'Kokopu', which is the Maori name for the NZ native 'trout'.

The pendant is long and has a wonderful curved front and looks a little like a tusk. The adjustable plaited cord.

The pendant was carved carved in the Wellington region of the north island of New Zealand and has been cleansed and blessed.

The pendant measures 92mm (3.6 inch) long, 27mm (1.06 inches) wide and 10mm (0.40 inches) deep.

It is suspended on a traditional plaited black coloured waxed cord that is fully adjustable for the wearer, the piece comes in a velvet pouch with a meaning card.
