Pounamu Greenstone Teardrop Earrings

A clean simple teardrop design fashioned into stylish earrings. Each earring is measures 40mm (1 3/4 inches) long and 10mm (3/8 inch) wide at the widest part.

The earrings are supplied in a jewellery box and also include a greenstone meaning card.

The earrings are carved in Nelson at the top of the south island of New Zealand by Terry Urban. Terry began carving wood and bone before switching to greenstone. He moved to Nelson which is considered to be the home of Pounamu / Greenstone.

The greenstone used in the making of these earring is south westland greenstone. Found in the west of the south island of New Zealand. South Westland greenstone is, like all New Zealand greenstone, a Nephrite Jade. Pounamu is the name as it is known by the New Zealand Maori name for jade. Greenstone is the name it is known by Europeans.
