Unique Greenstone Manaia Pendant

A very beautiful piece of dark green Pounamu (greenstone) was used to carve this traditonal manaia.

This Manaia was hand carved on the west coast of New Zealand in Hokitika by Glen Surgenor. Glen Surgenor has been carving greenstone for over 25 years. Glen uses traditional methods when carving.

This manaia is a one off unqiue piece and will not be available again.

The pendant measures 60mm (2.4 inch) long, 40mm (1.6 inches) wide and 7mm (0.3 inches) deep.

Manaia

The Manaia is traditionaly depicted with the head of a bird, the body of a man and tail of a fish, it is said to represent the sky ,earth and sea and the balance between. It is likened to a bird on your sholder protecting your spirit.
