Hand Carved Bone Whale Tail Pendant

This bone pendant is hand carved in New Zealand. It is in the shape of a Whale Tail. The pendant measures 25mm wide and 23mm long. It comes on a black waxed cord in a wooden gift box.

The Whale Tail
This symbol is an important one to the Maori people of New Zealand. The ocean has always played a key role in the culture of the Maori. Its the dominant force for the Maori people. They have used the ocean to travel huge distances in their long canoes (waka). The ocean and its creatures have feed and protected the Maori and therefore they had a great respect for the creatures of the sea and in particular dolphins and whales.
