Deer Bone Fish Hook Pendant

The deer bone fish hook pendant comes in a presentation box. The box contains a fact card about the pendant and the process of collecting the deer bone. The pendant comes on a waxed black cord with a deer bone toggle. The button from which the pendant was carved is also included.

Here in New Zealand Deer farming is big business. Aside from the normal consumable items deer farming is used for, another item which is also available are deer antlers.


The Pendants you see here are carved from these shed buttons, so no deer is actually harmed in this creation of these pendants.

This particular pendant is styled in the Maori fish hook fashion. In Maori tradition the Fish Hook or Hei Matau is said to represent peace, good health and prosperity. It is also said to protect the wear on journeys over water.

The deer bone pendant measures 45mm (1 3/4 inches) tall and 30mm (1 1/4 inch)wide.
