Framed Rimu Maori Matau Wood Pendant

Framed Matau wood pendant made from native New Zealand rimu. This wooden pendant featured inlaid paua pieces set in a rimu frame.
Pendant measures 60mm (2 1/2 inches) tall and 35mm (1 1/2 inches) wide.
Frame measures 180mm (7 inches) tall and 140mm (5 1/2 inches) wide
The Matau
The hei-matau means fish hook. These matau symbols are believed to be worn to protect those on fishing expeditions. The symbol represents strength, determination, peace, prosperity and good health.
